The black bear population in our Bear Management Area (BMA) is good. Many BMA's have been over hunted with little or no regard for the bear population. Our BMA has been protected. The 2000 bear hunting season and hunter success was very good, close to 75% overall. No missed shots or missed opportunities are included in this figure. We continue baiting after the hunt to determine the Bear population at these sites - they were active. Expectations for the 2003 hunt are good providing mother nature, and the weather do their part. If weather conditions are normal 2001 should provide a good fall hunt.

Have you ever seen a moose moving swiftly through the forest? Would you like to see one? The largest living members of the deer family constitute one of Ontario's greatest wildlife assets. The hunter, pausing by a northern lake, is in awe at the sight of a moose feeding quietly in the wilderness. The hunter, escaping from the pressures of every day life in the city, finds peace, and serenity as well as excitement when searching for the mighty moose.


Our cottages are located on the beautiful Marten River, which provides good fishing, and excellent canoeing. To reach our boat docks, follow 6 km of private woodland road to Red Cedar lake. While en route you may be fortunate enough to encounter some of natures wildlife.

We have 18’ Geisler cedar strip boats and 9.9 H.P.motors. Our fishing is good and Red Cedar Lake is noted for it’s pickerel (walleye), and northern pike fishing, although it also produces fairly good catches of small mouth bass and perch. Guides are available, please arrange in advance.

Pozniak’s spacious, private cottages are fully equipped rustic log cabins, with three piece bathrooms, and one to four bedrooms. After a full day of frolicking in the outdoors, you may want to cook for yourself or come on down to the Lodge where we have a fully licensed lounge. Whether you’re on American Plan or just want a day off from cooking, our home cooked meals are sure to please your palate. We can accommodate your dietary needs with just a little advance notice. After dinner you may want to relax and socialize in our cozy pub with a game of pool, darts, cards or just sit and take in a movie or the game on our satellite TV.
