    Dymond Lake Hunting Lodge:

Imagine a crisp morning out on the vast tundra and tidal flats, overhead the geese are arriving in waves. Located on one of the main North American flyways, guests at Dymond Lake Lodge have the thrill of being the first to hunt these southbound birds. If its fall, keep an eye open for Polar Bears. Our lodge is located up the Hudson Bay coast near Churchill, Manitoba and these guys have two months to wait for the ice to cover the Bay so they can do some hunting of their own.

And our big game adventures offer no less a thrill. In Manitoba's wild barren land on the boreal forest's edge, our mini-lodges at Commonwealth and Schmok Lakes are located in the Central Barren Land Caribou's migration route. A remote paradise, this area is rich with trophy caribou, wolves, fox, bears, waterfowl, lake trout and arctic grayling.

At the lodge, the Webbers try to recycle everything they can. Kitchen scraps are sorted, with most going into a compost pile, but the choicest bits are saved to feed the chickens, which provide a ready supply of fresh eggs and the occasional free meal for a hungry bear that manages to get through the high fence. The compost is then used to grow a small vegetable garden, which can be quite a challenge that far north.

The Webbers' next project involves alternate forms of energy for North Knife Lake Lodge. To cut the costs of running a diesel generator to produce power, Doug is looking into installing solar heating and wind generators. He calculates that the automatic solar system, which will transmit electricity and will charge batteries, will pay for itself in about two years even though the initial set-up costs are expensive.

Everything starts out as a dream or some might call it a fantasy! Such was the dream for North Knife Lake Lodge and Dymond Lake Lodge. Not unlike the early explorers we broke land in the wilderness and after many years of hard labor fishing lodge and hunting lodge were born. So the fantasy was not the "impossible dream" - it became a reality. Now they are havens for those who want to relax and enjoy the simple things away from the stress and pressures of your everyday routine.

Webbers Lodges are qualified professionals and will do everything possible to make your trip a memorable experience whether you come with your family, friends or business colleagues.

    North Knife Lake Lodge:

Wilderness, tranquility, FISH - North Knife Lake is absolutely teeming with trophy northern and lake trout. Our hundreds of crooked bays and backwater areas are havens for northerns and we head to the deeps for our monster lakers.

At Webber's Lodges you can chooose your adventure. Whether it’s a lodge or outpost experience you desire we can accommodate your pleasure with outstanding northern pike, lake trout, walleye, arctic grayling, brook trout and whitefish.

Doug said the clientele of North Knife Lodge is primarily sports fishermen who are not only interested in catching big fish and lots of them, but who also support the Webbers' catch and release policy. "We encourage people not to take fish home, because if you catch all the big ones there won't be any left," said Doug. "Fish grow slowly in this cold water, and about one third to half a pound a year, and the big ones are the spawners.

The compost is then used to grow a small vegetable garden, which can be quite a challenge that far north.

But the challenge of growing a garden is nothing compared to the formidable task of building the 6,000 square foot lodge so far away from roads and supplies. It took four years to complete, with 40 loads of lumber and supplies brought in by DC3 aircraft. The airplane would land on the frozen lake, usually in late spring, and the supplies would be shuttled ashore using just about every means of transportation available.
